We peaked a lot of interest when we posted our top interior designers to follow on Instagram. It sparked interesting conversations on our social pages making us want to dive deeper into the phycology of colors for interior designers when it comes down to expressing the right intended emotion. Here's a guest article from one of our fans about the language of colors.
It’s amazing to know how colors play a vital role in pleasing our eye. Colors have their psychological impacts on the mind by which they can control a person’s emotions.
Color psychology is nothing but the study of influence caused by human behaviour due to various different colors. Interior designers are keener of understanding this subject and implementing these practices into their profession. For instance, have you ever walked through the children's wing of the hospital? They tend to use yellow and blue accent pieces, and wall trimmings as a subliminal way to bring joy to the children staying there.
35% of Americans choose blue (blue being a calm color that helps in reducing blood pressure and your heart rate) as their first choice to apply to their rooms followed by green, purple and red. This may be due to the preference of habitats, but color psychology also depends on factors such as gender, age, and culture as everyone’s choices and likings are different.
Below is an infographic I designed for The Farthing which cover topics like: most popular brand colors, how colors influence people, most popular colors for interiors, and effects of room color.
